Buissness Reflection

Explain the invention process
  1. Brainstorm ideas
  2. Think how it would work or help people
  3. Survey what people think of the idea
  4. Find out what is the target market
  5. Create or make a prototype
  6. Work out how much it will cost to make/outgoing costs.
  7. How much the consumer will have to pay
  8. Work out your profit after making 100,200,1000
  9. How are you going to package it
  10. Present to Mrs K and Izy
  11. Present to the tough dragons

My most enjoyable part was
Presenting The Snack Packed chair to Izy and Mrs K is well as the class because I liked showing how it worked and answering questions they had.
The hardest part was
Standing in front of the dragons in room 7 because they asked really hard questions that I didn't understand.
If I was to do this again I would
Change my idea and make a different object because the dragons thought it wasn't a good idea.
I have learned how to
Work out GST, Outgoing costs for my product when I was trying to find out how much it cost to make my product.
The most scariest moment
Standing in front of the dragons while presenting my product because I didn't know them and it was very intimidating.
The most boring part
Working out the outgoing cost for my product.
The most embarrassing part
Standing in front of the dragon panel in room 7 because i didn't understand them.
The easiest part was
Making the prototype from the fabric and cardboard boxes and turning it into a Fruit Burst
How did you feel when talking to the Dragons
Very scared and nervous because I never knew them before.
The most breathtaking moment
When Daniel had all the dragons invest in his product.
The most messiest part
Making the fruit burst chair

Lunar park

Lunar Theme Park
When making a Lunar theme park you need to include a cafe, shop, Major and Minor rides, a lake, vending machines pathway's to go from ride to ride and car parks for the people to park their cars. We had a limit of $500,000 to spend for a theme park. After designing our theme park we had to work out how much it was going to cost to run our park each day.
We chose the entrance fee and found out how many people came each day.

Fruit Burst Chair

Fruit burst chair

A Fruit burst chair is shaped into a cube with another different coloured fruit burst on the behind you to support your back when you lean backwards.

The Fruit burst chair comes in different colours with every detail that a normal fruit bust would have. It’s made from wood with fabric surrounding the wood for comfort. Their is another fruit burst which is made from fabric and fluff, it is built with the original fruit burst at the bottom. On the fruit burst there's a hatch which can store your fruit bursts or lollies when wanting a snack without moving.

Fruit burst chairs are no ordinary chair so get yours now!

Buggy reflection

Buggy Reflection

As a group, Matt and I created a Questionnaire about Strollers and with that information it would help us to create our own Buggy.
We went out just before school finished to ask some of the parents to fill in our forms. With that information we entered it onto a form to see our results.

Scatter plot

Scatter Graph:
To create a scatter graph you need all the information you've collected. I made 5 paper planes and added an amount of paper clips onto them. My Assertion is that the more Paper clips you add onto the plane the further it will fly. It turned out that my assertion was correct. If using 2 Paper clips.

My Scatter graph is showing the amount of paper clips and the distance along the bottom. Our graph shows that the plane with 2 paper clips flew the farthest at a whopping 14.57 Metres.
The one that flew the least amount was the plane with 4 Paper clips.

Panagrams

Panagrams

A pangram is a sentence that uses every letter in the Alphabet. Which is very creative, not to long and makes sense

This is my pangram that i created.
The lazy dog lay silently as the quick Brown hippo jumped over the dog, into the funny box.

This is the one i created with my team. It took us 8 mins and 4 sec

The funky stone gargoyle quickly zig zagged and then jumped into a wobbly x-ray booth to test his vision.

Awesome competition and fun!

Book Week Parade

On Friday the 19th the school dressed up into a character from a book. Each class walked around the hall showing off their cool creations to the school and also the judges which were Mrs Hills, Mrs Harwood and Mrs Sandifar. There were 2 winners from the years 1 & 2's, 3 & 4's and  5 & 6's. I thought the best outfit was Gabe from room 6, he dressed up as a Joker.

Torbay maps

I created a map of Torbay and Waiake and added signs for the school, the kindergarten,
the dairy, the local park and my house. We also added a grid reference with longitude and latitude.
Street Maps
WALT: Find and describe the location of an object using co-ordinates.
WALT: Follow and give instructions involving distances by interpreting simple scales

Open the Map to answer the questions below

Mark  the school on the map
Mark the local park/ sports ground
Mark a local shop (dairy, petrol station OR bakery)
Mark Torbay Kindergarten
Can you find your house?

Mark these with a simple symbol is: a house for your house/ a tree for the local park etc.

Describe the locations of the school, park and Waiake Beach

Add a grid reference

Add the scale 1cm=1km
Add a compass

With a piece of string measure the distance - using the scale to work out the distance. Explain your findings of the below, on a new document.
  1. Torbay School and Torbay Kindergarten -
  2. Torbay School to Waiake Beach -
  3. Mark out a 5km bike circuit on your map. Work out the distance with the string and then mark it on the map with a coloured line.
  4. Write the instructions for this circuit - using N S E W and left/ right.

A.J. Hacket

This is a Tic-Tac-Toe about A.J. Hackett

  • We have researched about a.j. hackett and put our information into a tic tac toe

Corban's art centre

On thursday rooms 2 & 3 went to the corbans art centre in Henderson. At the Corban's art centre we created sculptures using recycled materials. We all chose an item to start with and then we thought about what we could do with it and then we went back to the pile with materials to build a masterpiece. We got to meet Andrew hall who is an artist that creates sculptures from recycled materials.

  • I enjoyed creating the sculpture from recycled materials.
  • The most challenging part was finding parts that could be useful.

Rap Unzel

Rap Unzel

 based on Disney original Tangled
Created by "The Playhouse" - Ben Jack and Jane

Rap Unzel... Maybe an unusual name but The playhouse created a parody tangled. It was a mind blowing hilarious play enjoyable for all ages. The main characters were Rapunzel, Simon COW!!! Which is based on X Factor judge Simon cowell and Rupert who prefers to be called Rupee. He loves to rap but hasn't got the best voices. Who knows maybe Rapunzel should have taken the cash and sign the contract or maybe she chose the right decision. A must see play.

Reading prior knowledge-Thrills

Thrills

Monday 18th August 2014
Walt: we are learning to make connections
(Text to Text, Text to self)

Who is Evel Knievel?

Evel Knievel was born on October the 17th, 1938. He was an American daredevil and wore a white leather jump suit with the colours blue and red. One of his most known jumps was riding his motorcycle over the Caesar's palace fountain. But after landing he was unconscious for a whole week.
Evel Knievel died after been suffering from a disease called Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. November 30th 2007.

What is a thrill seeker?

A thrill seeker is someone who likes taking part in extreme sporting or other events which involve a physical risk.
I have never taken part of a thrill seeking event/sport!

Why are thrill stunts  dangerous?

The reason thrill stunts are so dangerous is because they push themselves to the limits and even further from what they can already do.

Maths week challenge

Maths week challenge

Today as part of maths week we took part in a challenge which involves maths. We were put into groups of three of four and named ourselves the "maths ninja's". My group was made of Danelle, Carys, Tygan and me. When starting as a group we were doing really well and then when it came to the maze part we were off and it was probably the easiest challenge in the whole of the competition. But then the real struggle was having to complete the

Wearable Art Journey

WEARABLE ARTS JOURNEY

Monday 11th august 2014
Today I'm going to try and achieve the seaweed which is going to be made of plastic bags, then to slim the bags I'm going to put on plastic cylinder tubes. Then it will be ready to paint on another day to give it a seaweed look.

Monday afternoon
Today I managed to create 31 seaweed strips as well as finding an abundance of resources for another day. I found some orange fabric which will be used to wrap around the starfish that will sit on my cheek.
Tomorrow I'm going to glue the seaweed on to my t-shirt with sand all around the torso and hopefully if I can find some shells I'll stick those in between the seaweed. For another day I'll spray the seaweed green and maybe get my tentacle suction cups.

Tuesday morning
This is my design so far:

  • Today I'm going to stick my 31 seaweed strips on to my shirt.
  • I also want to rip my clothing to give it a rustic and wretched look.
  • Probably the most interesting part will be when I stick the sand on to my pants to give it a beach kind of look.

Tuesday afternoon
Yesterday I completed sticking the seaweed on to my shirt with the hot glue gun as well as the octopus suction cups.
I had difficulty with the hot glue gun and trying to stick them on to the shirt without burning myself.
I found out that after hot gluing the seaweed the hot glue stuck through to the other side. I then had to rip the hot glue from the other side so I could wear it.
Working by myself is better because then I know everything that is happening and nothing I don't. So I'm in control of everything.
My design reflects my element because I have strips of seaweed and I'm going to have shells and a starfish on my face.

Wednesday morning
Today I'm going to try and achieve spray painting them green. Then it will look like seaweed. I want to stick my shells throughout my clothes.

The final result

Overall I feel that I achieved what I imagined my design would be. I probably felt even better having the green spray paint to give a bubbly look which looks wicked.
The biggest success was completing all 40 seaweed strips because it took me a whole day but it was still worth it.
The most enjoyable part for me was sticking the sand on the pants because it gives the pants a beachy look with a rough feel.
The hardest part was wearing it because the seaweed made it really heavy.
I have learnt how to create seaweed and listening to other peoples ideas can be really helpful.

The zoo experience

“AHHHH finally” I sighed it was a relief to know that we gradually made it to the zoo. After a long car trip, it was one of the best feeling to know that we could stand up, breathe in the fresh air from the oak wood and feel the frostbite air nipping onto your skin. The Bells of the Tram was steaming down the railways nearing so close. The Tram rung in your ear like a fog horn from a boat in the deep mists of the sea.

We traipsed along the grass consisting of dew in the thick mists. The entrance was nearing as we trudged past the thick pine trees. You could hear the Lions bellowing out large roars ferociously as if a pack of deer were passing by and the lions growled and moaned to scare the Deer out of the wits. As we entered the borders of the zoo it was brimmed to the very edge of the zoo with a crowd of people.

We handed the tickets to one of the staff members and sauntered in between the crowds and darted to the giraffes. The Dark planks of spruce lay upon the bridge. SLIP!!!!!1 I stood up and carried on before i caused a scene. The Keepers in brown vests held the buckets in their hand and served the last piece of celery to a small child of blue clothing. We drooped along the boardwalk towards the VICIOUS BLOODSUCKING LIONS.. The Lions or so called vicious bloodsucking lions were actually Females! But they were also lying down sleeping and pretty much doing………… Nothing! Except for a bit of yawning.

An abundance of hours past, by that time it was 3ish. We were starting to slow down, and proceed through the last of the animals, when i caught a glimpse... Of a gigantic grey boulder looking shape it started to shift around the corner. Then it happened a big enormous………  Elephant!!  It was burma the elephant, he was the most popular Elephant in the zoo. We also saw him before getting cleaned with a hose and soap while he played with his toys, as well as lying down.

As we neared the end of the zoo we checked back in with the toy shop to collect are prize. It turned out to be a chocolate bar, that was well worth it. We roamed around the toy shop for a while, and then started to saunter to the beginning and where it all started. The track led us back to the car which was pretty much a ball of ice. We started the car and then………  Back On The Road, We Go!
